"Wandering is a phenomenon whereby patients with Alzheimer experience a strong urge to walk, often without a purpose, or at least a real destination. For this reason sometimes their destination, as well as the reason for reaching it, lies in their personal view of reality."
Starting therefore from this behavior that afflicts Alzheimer's patients, a diorama was created, a diorama is a kind of box without ceiling with mirrored walls: in this way it creates an unlimited landscape with the objective of reproducing a scenario related to this syndrome. The project represents a mental landscape in scale 1:100 and wants to represent the phenomenon of Wandering that occurs in Alzheimer's patients. The scenario described is an organic environment characterized by mountainous forms of different heights. It, thanks to the use of mirrors proposes an infinite landscape marked by paths comparable to the Arizona Canyons. These paths are also emphasized by the coloration of the territory, more intense in the narrowest spaces, and by portals that create a continuous and defined pathway that directs the Alzheimer's patient in his wanderings without precise destination. Outside this path there are benches that are inspired by Bruno Munari's "Chair for very short visits", which on which you can not sit comfortably: this wants to accentuate the non-stop walking of patients in the moments of Wandering.
